Delevan-Yorkshire Public Library Summer Reading Program 2019

Note: Our Summer Reading Program for 2019 begins June 24th. Beginning on that date you may register and begin tracking your reading & have fun earning lots of prizes!

For Children in Preschool to Grade 4

The first 25 Children to sign-up will receive a 

“A Universe of Stories” book bag!

 Enter drawing to receive a tote bag full of goodies!

How it Works:

		
			
		1.    Children ages 2 to 10 can register for the independent or family reader program . (An adult or older child 
                      reads to a child who is not reading on his or her own yet.)
			
		2.   You  may register for the reading programs any time after the last day of school.
			
		3.   You’ll receive a reading register to log the number of minutes you read each day.  
			
		4.   Sign a contract with the librarian to decide how many hours you will spend reading this summer.
					
		5.   Each time you read (or are read to) for 15 minutes, enter the date and initial a box on your 
                      reading record.
			
		6.   When you complete a row of boxes you may visit the library to collect some incentive 
                      prizes, and give-aways, or enter contests.
						
		7.   Everyone who completes their contract will entered into a drawing to win a gift bag full of  prizes.
						
		8.   Children may also attend any of the age-appropriate story programs that will be offered once
                     a week June 24 through Aug 13. Story time reading during the program may be added to your 
                     reading log.
               9.   Use the form below to submit a review of a book you have read or listened to, or a movie you have
                     watched. Each review submitted will earn you another ticket for the gift bag drawing & weekly small prizes
                     when you visit the library in person.
		
			 The Library welcomes children of all abilities.

For youth in Grades 5 -12:

The first 25 participants to sign-up will receive

        How it Works:
	*You may register for this reading program any time after the last day of school.
	*You’ll receive a reading register to log the number of minutes you read each day.  
	*Sign a contract with the librarian to decide how many hours you will read this summer. School-Assigned summer reading counts for
           this  program!
	*Each time you read 15 minutes, enter the date and initial a box on your reading record.
	*When you complete five boxes you may visit the library to collect some incentive rewards, and give-aways, or enter contests.
        * Use the form below to submit a review of a book you have read or listened to, or a movie you have watched. Each review 
          submitted will earn you another ticket for the gift bag drawing & weekly small prizes when you visit the library in person.
	*Everyone who completes their contract will be entered in a drawing for for a gift bag full of prizes.


ATTENTION Pioneer Central Students!
We have most of the titles on the Pioneer Central Middle School & High School Summer Reading Lists available for you to borrow
(Click here for the lists).

These titles are available in a variety of formats, including books, audio books, e-reader books or e-audio books–we even have some of the movies!
Middle School Graphic Organizers are available at the Circulation Desk. 

Do your Required Summer Reading and earn some rewards for doing it!

You may also use your required summer reading titles to submit reviews below and qualify for weekly incentive prizes.

 

For Ages 18 & Above.

Click here to join the Chautauqua-Cattarugus Library System "online" Adult Summer Reader Program, and also the Delevan-Yorkshire Public Library on-site adult summer reading program. (You may also register in-person at DYPL.)

Requirements: Read or listen to at least three books or watch movies; write at least one review* to share on the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System Adult Summer Reader page, or pick up a review form at DYPL.
Benefits: For each review submitted, receive a ticket from DYPL for a chance to win a gift bag from Delevan-Yorkshire Public Library (two to be given away by drawing) full of goodies. Receive a token themed gift from DYPL for each review submitted (up to 3). The more reviews you write, the more chances to win one of the gift bags!
			
	Join in an Ice Cream Social, Sat, Aug. 17th, 11 am, when the winning tickets for the gift bags will be drawn.
 
*With participants’ permission, reviews will be published on the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Library System Website and/or in a small booklet to be distributed to  Adult SRP participants and Library patrons.
